From the tea fields of Java we purchase
green tea (Camellia Sinesis) that we use to render our green tea
oil. We then mill the tea leaves to a fine powder, add a proper ratio of
the ground green tea leaf to coconut oil, and heat the mixture until
it is completely saturated. Then we strain the oil for remaining larger,
abrasive particles, resulting in a smooth, creamy oil. This rich, green
oil we add to the soap mixture at the end of the process as a "superfatting"
agent. Superfatting is a process soapmakers use to ensure a softer, smoother,
creamier, more emollient-rich bar of soap. In actuality, superfatting leaves
some of the oils un-saponified (un-SOAP-afied) resulting in a moisturize-rich
bar of soap while still maintaining the amazing cleansing properties of
coconut oil. Green tea is becoming ever so popular for its amazing antioxidant
properties for the skin and body. Anti-oxidants aid in preserving a more
youthful appearance by hindering your body's natural oxidation process of
aging. Chlorophyll (Chlorophyll) A dark green colored oil made from
Alfalfa grass, is the most densely concentrated chlorophyll containing
land plant on earth. Chlorophyll being rich in many vitamins and minerals
works to nourish tired, exposed skin. Chlorophyll's strongest attribute
is its ability to accelerate the formation of granulation tissue that forms
the base for new tissue growth. Honey (also added at the end of the
soap-making process in order to maintain all of the honey's botanical properties)
lays down a clear, protective film that helps skin maintain moisture. It
hydrates and soothes the skin and is thought to be slightly antiseptic and
bacteriostatic. It is used as an emollient in soap. Aniseed essential
oil (Illicium verum) is a warm smelling oil that draws water from the
body, stimulates local circulation, and contains estrogen-like phytohormones.
It has a tautening effect on the skin, strengthens the muscle tone, and
increases the elasticity of the connective tissue and skin. An excellent
treatment for mature skin, wrinkles, furrows, weakness of the connective
tissue and cellulite.
